We’re excited to announce our programme for day 2 of our Disruption and Innovation in Housing in the Devolved Nations event which takes place on 16 November.
Our event is designed specifically for social landlords within the devolved nations and features a range of insightful talks from in and out of sector speakers, including innovative global brands
Day 1 centres on the theme of the future of the workplace and responsible AI, with day 2 focusing on sustainable housing and digital communities. We’ll be delving into the ways landlords can build housing and communities that consider the needs of their customers now and how to get ready for the future.
Our opening keynote with Microsoft will explore building sustainable cities and communities.
We will explore how housing providers can contribute to zero carbon targets by leading the delivery of sustainable housing in the UK, combining technology and development to create sustainable living environments. We’ll be hearing from Steven Grier from Microsoft who’s the country and Regional Manager for Scotland and LRG North.
Smart Homes and IOT (internet of things)
Our next speaker Dane Ralston, Managing Director at iOpti, will then take you on a journey to discover more about smart homes and IOT (internet of things), in housing. IOT is becoming more common in the UK housing sector. IOT provides efficiency and new insight into the performance of buildings and how this can be affected by occupants’ behaviour. You will discover how you can begin to start utilising this innovative tech in your organisation, to improve the management and maintenance of your properties and help improve the lives of your tenants.
Digital Infrastructure
The COVID-19 pandemic made us all realise the importance of being digitally connected. However, some families remained isolated due to financial or capacity and capability barriers. Housing providers have a role to play to ensure their customers and communities are physically, socially and digitally connected to overcome these barriers. In this session with Andrew Neilson, Head of the developer relationship team/New sites at Openreach, we will explore how infrastructure can be future proofed to ensure it is inclusive for all.
Sustainable housing
We’ll then hear from Sarah Buchanan, Business Relationship Manager at Construction Scotland Innovation Centre who champions innovation and connects Scotland’s construction businesses to deliver transformational change.
Communities of the future
Our final speaker of the day – James Ehrlich founder of ReGen Villages will delve into what the communities of the future may look and feel like, and what risks and opportunities need to be considered if these communities are to be created successfully. James will provide an insight into designing regenerative, technology-based communities and provide you with plenty of food for thought and inspiration on how you make sure you’re ready for the future of housing.
There will be plenty of time to put your questions to the panel too to really get the chance to pick their brains! Join your peers and come together to enhance your knowledge together, be inspired and accelerate your business through these insightful and inspiring sessions to ultimately help make a difference to the lives of your customers.
